About

Our MissioN

Queer Minds is a not-for-profit festival of ideas amplifying LGBTQ+ voices, stories, and perspectives. We bring together writers, activists, historians, artists, and community leaders to explore the issues that matter to us – from politics and history to creativity, identity, and culture.

About

Founded in 2023, Queer Minds was created to carve out a space for thoughtful, engaging conversations that celebrate the richness and diversity of queer experience. Our events combine panel discussions, in-conversation interviews, performances, and workshops, designed to spark dialogue, challenge assumptions, and build connections.

Working in partnership with other queer organisations, we aim to keep our events accessible and relevant. Every year, our line-up features established names alongside emerging voices, ensuring a platform for stories often left underhead.

As a Community Interest Company, all income is reinvested into the festival and our mission: to create a welcoming space for curiosity, learning, and solidarity in the LGBTQ+ community – and beyond.

Gay’s The Word is the UK’s oldest LGBTQ+ bookshop and a touchstone for the broader LGBTQ+ community. The bookshop was set up in January 1979 by a group of gay socialists as a community space where all profits were funnelled back into the business.

Since Queer Minds launched in 2023, we’ve proudly partnered with Gay’s The Word to celebrate and amplify LGBTQ+ voices.
